CITY INVITES COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON TWO ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES

CITY INVITES COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON TWO ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES

(Langford, B.C.) – The City of Langford is inviting residents, business owners, and community members to participate in two important engagement opportunities that will help shape the future of Langford’s economy and cultural landscape.

As part of its commitment to inclusive, community-driven planning, the City is developing its first-ever Economic Development Strategy and a bold Arts and Culture Strategy. Both initiatives are currently in the public engagement phase, with surveys and questionnaires live on the City’s online engagement platform, LetsChatLangford.ca.

“The City is committed to ensuring that these Strategies reflect our shared values, aspirations, and priorities,” said Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford. “I encourage all community members to participate in the community engagement process, as public feedback is essential for creating an inclusive and vibrant community where everyone can thrive.”

Economic Development Strategy

The Economic Development Strategy consists of two surveys, one for residents and another for businesses, live on the City’s online engagement platform, LetsChatLangford.ca, until end of day, September 14, 2025. This Strategy will serve as a roadmap for sustainable growth and economic resiliency while building on Langford’s reputation for attracting investment from various sectors.

The resident survey aims to gather feedback to shape the City’s Economic Development Strategy, focusing on the local economy, community priorities, employment improvements, retail needs, and initiatives. The business survey seeks input from business owners to identify their needs and challenges, contributing to a strategy that promotes sustainable growth and innovation.

Arts and Culture Strategy

The City of Langford is developing a bold Arts and Culture Strategy to foster a vibrant arts and culture scene, support local artists and organizations, guide inclusive public space design, and strengthen Langford’s economy through cultural development. A community questionnaire is currently live on LetsChatLangford.ca until end of day, September 21, 2025. A supporting Placemaking Strategy is also underway to make public spaces more inviting and inspiring.

As part of Council’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, the City of Langford has prioritized the development of formal Economic Development and Arts and Culture Strategies, key initiatives that support a resilient economy, inclusive prosperity, and a vibrant community. Both strategies are scheduled for completion by December 2025 and reflect the City’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life and fostering cultural vitality for all residents.

The City of Langford is hosting an Ideas Fair on Saturday, October 18, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to encourage community participation. Details to follow.

The City encourages residents to sign up on LetsChatLangford.ca and follow the City on social media to be notified about various public engagement opportunities and to learn more about the projects currently open for engagement.
